Hi everyone
Welcome to 2009! The New Year reading we did on 30 December made it particularly clear that we are not at the mercy of anything (time, planets, money, global affairs etc) so instead of wishing that 2009 is a wonderful year for you, I’m instead wishing that you create it that way! There are some tools for thriving in this new cycle mentioned in that reading, which you can download here, and I also invite you to join me for two processes that will start off your year with some fresh perspective and clarity: the JoyMap Workshop and the New Year Vision Board Evening. These have been designed to take you beyond cerebral resolutions and assist you to take real – and realistic - steps towards your joy. See below for an opportunity to play with the tradition of New Year’s Resolutions in a new way.
I am offering three powerful and pioneering workshops in 2009: Embody, Jump and Separate Togetherness.
Embody is a process that brings you into much closer, more honest and more loving relationship with your body so that it can guide you powerfully toward your joy.
Separate Togetherness is a new workshop for couples who want to replace the traditional, co-dependent model of relationship with something far more free and real.
Jump will allow participants to see with which elements of their life they have become over-identified and powerfully – physically - let go of these. More information on this exciting process will be made available later in the year.
All of these workshops use unique processes that have been inspired by the new information in my readings and learnings from my own life. They are offered a few times a year, in small groups of 10, at the Boondocks Mountain Retreat in Mpumalanga and you can read more about them here.
There is a week left to apply for participation in a Spiritual Growth Club in 2009 if you’d like to join a group of people committed to their own and each other’s growth for a year. Please ask Garrick for information and booking forms before 10 January.
I’ll be in White River from 23 January and in Cape Town from 1 February, where I will run a special Life Purpose workshop based on the exercises mentioned in the recent talk I did there. Keep an eye on the next newsletter for my Durban itinerary from 4 to 8 March.

Group Reading
The latest reading on 30 December 2008 gives five suggestions, or invitations, as a ‘survival kit’ for thriving in the next cycle: (1) becoming a creator in relation to all aspects of our lives, (2) recognizing that certain ideas / products / lifestyles are going to spread very rapidly, (3) moving our bodies regularly in order to avoid carrying anything unnecessarily, (4) healing our sexuality to unlock our creativity and (5) shifting from a ‘waste mentality’ to an ‘efficiency mentality’. The questions asked have to do with whether certain geographical spots have higher consciousness potential, e.g. South Africa, and what happens when certain modalities like Reiki have unintended consequences. Join us for the next group reading in White River on Friday 23rd January at 7.30pm and in Johannesburg on Sunday 15 February at 4pm. Please contact Garrick to book for these and to confirm details.
The cost of attending a group reading will remain unchanged at R100.00 for the third year running so that these events are as accessible as possible. Please note, however, that this is an attendance fee and the right to sell or distribute the information remains with Travelling Light. You are welcome to purchase recordings of these sessions at R20.00 per CD after the event.
JoyMap 2009 – Resolutions with a Difference
In my experience, most New Year’s resolutions are likely to fail for two reasons: Firstly, they are usually based on what you think you should do, rather than what you deeply want to do. In other words, the goals are set only from your head. Failure to sustain these resolutions breeds a sense of self-recrimination, your esteem drops and a cycle of subtle disappointment begins. Secondly, even when your resolutions are truly aligned with your joy, they may be unrealistic and difficult to integrate into your life as it is now. Why not do it differently in 2009 and begin to sculpt your life – practically - from joy?
I have designed a number of unusual, innovative processes to assist you to see what you really want from the year and to find real, creative and achievable ways to integrate this into your current life with nothing needing to change.

The value of my particular Vision Board process lies in its ability to access insight from your right brain – using silence, images and guided visualisation. You will not just be pasting pictures on a board of what you think you want - you will be engaging with the gems of awareness from that seldom-used, delicious field of your imagination.
In this way, your board might tell you a few things about 2009 that you don’t yet know you know.

Transformation Game
The Transformation Game was designed at the renowned Findhorn Retreat and is a wonderful way to play out your life. You can find new perspectives, test out your intuition and receive divine feedback – all while playing a board game. Garrick and I offer facilitated Transformation Game Evenings by request for groups of 4 to 8 people. A lovely and lively evening for bookclubs, or groups of colleagues and friends.

Life Purpose Workshop
As a channel, one of the most frequently asked questions by my clients is ‘what am I supposed to be doing?’ All of us intuit a sense of purpose to our lives, but what does that mean and how are we supposed to find it? In this workshop I will briefly share some understandings about Life Purpose that have emerged from responses to these questions.
We will spend most of our time exploring a practical, and profound, way to uncover your sweet spot using the analogy of unwrapping the three layers of a gift: the sticky tape (Life’s Disappointment), the wrapping paper (Life’s Packaging) and the tissue paper (Imagination). This analogy was given in a reading and remains, for me, one of the most powerful ways to define for yourself your path of joy.
